How to get hot for Summer!!

WHAT??! It’s October already? Where has the year gone? Everyone around Australia is echoing the same horrified thought, and to make matters even worse it’s time to start exposing our white, pasty, and somewhat extra “cuddly” winter bodies in bathers! But don’t fret; it’s not all doom and gloom.

TIP 1 Start Familiarising Yourself

To ease you into the idea of wearing bathers, the key is to start heading to the beach in shorts and t-shirt and go for a nice walk along the sand. Try to do this twice a week, maybe once after work and then once on the weekend. You will be amazed at how you start feeling more comfortable with going to a place known for bathers, even though you haven’t quite pulled yours out of the bottom drawer yet!

TIP 2 Learn to Juggle

Look, we know it sounds a little “cuckoo” but seriously, can you juggle 2 or 3 balls effortlessly? Not only does it get you slightly obsessed, but you also end up standing up and moving around more than you realize! It’s way better than sitting on the couch and playing with your ipad/phone app’s and it’s also going to add to your incredible “party trick” list you have been meaning to update for ages! TIP 3 Have a Picnic Dinner

By packing a nice little picnic and heading to a nearby park or beach, you will hopefully reduce your meal size (because basically we are all lazy and will just pack a roll and vegemite!) Also, once you get out in that warm summer evening air, you will feel compelled to go for a little stroll or even kick a footy, helping you avoid that permanent dip in the couch you made over the winter months.

TIP 4 Write Your Christmas Cards and Post Them Early!

This one just achieves SOOOO many awesome things! Firstly, you are getting organized for Christmas (brilliant) and hopefully you are updating/revising your address book, (or in other words stopping yourself from going to the pantry because you are bored.) Once you have written 5, put the pen down and go post them by walking to your nearest postbox. Not only are you getting exercise, but you have gotten in first, so anyone you post a card to had better send you one back because you have given them plenty of time! You have now just guaranteed yourself a pretty full mantle piece of Christmas cards, so it’s time to start feeling pretty popular!

TIP 5 10 Push Ups and 10 Planks

Yes, sorry, it is a couple of exercises. But its only 10 of each if that’s all you can manage – do more if you can! The plank is that new wave tummy tightening exercise where you hold still for 10 seconds or more.
