Loan Eligibility

Am I eligible for a loan?

Before you apply for a personal loan, we understand you’d like to know if you’re eligible.

That’s where our handy checklists come in. We know your time is important, so we want you to feel confident there’s nothing at the very start that could be stopping you from clicking GO!

Whether you need a personal loan up to $5,000 or a larger loan between $5,001 and $10,000 let our checklists help reassure you it’s worth going forward with our online application today.

Quick eligibility checklist for loans up to $10,000

Our basic loan eligibility criteria are:

  • You are 18 years of age or over
  • Living in Australia (citizen, permanent resident, on a working visa or sponsorship visa)
  • Earning over $500 per week (Centrelink income can’t be your only source so you’ll also need to be working)
  • Have not declared bankruptcy in the last 12 months
  • Employed on a casual, part-time or full time basis

Did you say yes to all the points above? If you did, congratulations you are eligible to apply!

Credit history plays an important part in your eligibility for a loan

Although we can’t help every situation, our range of personal loans are available for people with good credit and certain levels of bad credit too.

Fair Go Finance can still help you if you have bad credit.  Find out more about our bad credit loans.

If your credit score is:

Over 650 then it is likely you would be eligible for a low rate personal loan and we should have a few options for you.
Between 450 and 650 you may have a couple of options depending on your current financial circumstances
Less than 450 you may have access to a loan with Fair Go Finance to demonstrate you are wanting to go forward with your credit history. You will know this from our application process.

If the checklist confirms that I’m eligible, does that mean my loan will be approved?

Our checklist helps you know you’ve met the minimum requirements to go forward with a loan application. Then when you complete our easy online application, other checks such as looking at your bank statements, credit file and affordability will be done. If you pass these checks, then we’ll be able to formally approve your loan!
